It’s a family affair!

The Family

Erick & Sharon van Arneman

Joy-Ann, Jonathan and Jewel

When it comes to church work and Christian service, for the Van Arneman’s, it has always been a family affair. What can you expect with three Sunday-born children!!! Jokes aside, Erick and Sharon are forever grateful to God for their Christian heritage, a heritage they have been able to pass on to their children, who will then hopefully pass it on to succeeding generations.

Many dismissed it as a silly refrain: “First comes love, then comes marriage; then comes a baby in a baby carriage.” But when after only two months of marriage, it was discovered that a baby might be on the way, that “silly” refrain took on a whole new meaning for Erick and Sharon, especially.

Joy-Ann was born on Easter Sunday, April 15, 1990, and, true to her name, she is a joy. Presently enrolled at university in the UK, she spent her summer working in Children’s church and in the music ministry of GIBC.

Jonathan, who made his entrance into the world on Sunday, June 6, 1993, just in time for his parents’ fourth wedding anniversary, is a skilled poet in his own right. He does the Scripture reading at GIBC.

With the birth of Jewel on Christmas Eve Sunday, December 24, 1995, Erick and Sharon declared that their quiver was full. Although Jewel assists with the music and children’s departments, her passion is dancing - a ministry which she uses to bless the GIBC congregation!

Psalm 127:3-5 (The Message)

 Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?

      the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?

   Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows

      are the children of a vigorous youth.

   Oh, how blessed are you parents,

      with your quivers full of children!

   Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you;

      you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.
